Friction Land
|
Friction Land is the reincarnation of a previous
band known as Friction.
Friction was the brainchild of Mark Tyrrell,
Friction guitarist, and the band lasted
roughly from '00 -'06.
Many of the songs from the recently released
Friction Land album were originally written
back in the days of Friction by Mark; lyrically
the music was written with philosophy,
relationship strife, and angst as the main roots.
The instrumentation tends to reflect the current
rock music from that time.
Bassist Jayme Sanchez and drummer Justin Stokes
were both in the original Friction at one point
or another.
In the spring of 2010, both were asked
to participate in Frictions latest
reincarnation;
mutual friend Johnny Abreu was
brought in as vocalist.
They joined forces and reinstated the name
Friction as their moniker, and began working on
and developing Marks songs. A sprinkling of new
songs were crafted as well, and these all
eventually would become the tracks that make
up their first full length album.
Not wanting to be confused with a host of other
bands named Friction, the group underwent a
change of identity, becoming Friction Land.
The Friction Land album was released in March of
2012.
Friction Land is currently working on promoting
their album and continuously working on new
material, both nuggets from Mark's back
catalogue, in addition to some completely fresh
and new. All are exciting for the group, and they
hope to be releasing these new tunes as singles
and videos and plan on doing so sooner, rather
than later. |
